Nostalgia: the magazine

For our Research Seminar project, we created a magazine together based on the theme of nostalgia. Everyone was free to follow their own interests within that theme, so the magazine ended up with a wide range of articles.

It doesn’t only include academic articles: there are also puzzles, interviews, book reviews, and even some recipes. These are all examples of how nostalgia can appear in many different forms in different parts of life.

One of the key parts of the project was making all the pages by hand. This hands-on approach not only made the process more fun and collaborative but also added to the nostalgic feel we wanted the magazine to have. We spent many creative sessions in the Eureka Room crafting pages together, which was really fun (but also kind of stressful when working towards the deadline).

After finishing the pages, we photocopied everything ourselves and then had the magazine professionally bound. The result of our project is a combination of academic work and creative expression; all tied together through the theme of nostalgia.
