Echo: the new Ongehoord Journal

Dear student of the Programme,
Maybe you’ve been made aware already, but if you haven’t: the honours student journal has changed its name from Ongehoord to Echo. Some international students within the programme thought the name “Ongehoord” indicated that the journal was for submissions in Dutch only. This is, of course, not the case; we cater to the entire honours community. Besides, we wanted to rid ourselves of the connection with the far-right broadcasting organisation “Ongehoord Nederland”.
The name “Echo” was tipped to us by a student of the programme. It’s an acronym, standing for “Essays Capturing Hidden Opinions”. This refers back to the previous name, “Ongehoord” (“Unheard”), since hidden opinions are unheard.
We’re currently collecting papers for the upcoming print edition. If you have some written work around collecting dust: please send it in! It can be an essay you wrote for a subject you followed, or a passion project you’ve written on. You can submit by going to echojournal.nl/submit, or via emailing echoeditor@sveureka.nl. Be quick if you want to be printed in the first ever Echo issue!
