Sign up for the Flemish-Dutch Philosophers’ day on December 12th!

Dear HHP students,

On Friday December 12th, the Flemish-Dutch Philosophers’ day will be organized in Utrecht! The day will be organized by UU Liberal Arts teacher (and involved with the HHP) Simon Gusman. The theme  for this year is Beyond Boundaries  and there will be various speakers exploring the question how philosophers should interact with other disciplines and actors outside academia!

If you are interested to come, you can sign up for the day via the link until November 27th: Vlaams-Nederlandse Filosofiedag 2025 – ozsw .

BEYOND BOUNDARIES

Philosophy does not exist in isolation. Philosophers have always sought dialogue: with other philosophers, other ways of thinking, and other ways of doing things. Anyone who seeks knowledge, truth, and wisdom will sooner or later be confronted with other truths. Philosophical traditions from different parts of the world are increasingly coming into contact with each other. Even in today’s universities, philosophers do not stand alone, but exist within and between other disciplines. Outside the university, other cultural and artistic expressions are engaged in their own ways of giving shape to ideas. Philosophy is constantly moving beyond its own boundaries Beyond Boundaries is the theme for this year’s Flemish-Dutch Philosophy Day.

On this day, we want to explore how philosophy engages with other disciplines and interdisciplinarity, how philosophical interactions take place between different traditions from different parts of the world, and how philosophers engage with other practices, such as art and culture.
